CEO Report to Board
Since the last Directors meeting we have had a jam pack schedule of meetings and events. The 2016 OAR convention was held in Cleveland from September 18th thru 21st and I will summarize below.
On Monday morning I attended the enlarged legislative meeting and Scott Williams gave an update on both our progress in the State House on the ODR’s license law changes and the climate of the 2016 elections.
The RPAC luncheon was held also that day and the speakers were Congressman Bob Gibbs and Congressman Jim Renacci. They both explained the state of the Congress and the challenges that the country is facing. Both of these speakers are strong supporters of our Association.
The remainder of the day I was attending the AE committee workshop. I was the chairman of this committee this year, and we discussed best practices on dealing with Core Standards. We also had discussions on the changes to OAR dues and meeting schedule proposed changes.
Tuesday morning I attended the TLT breakfast with Scott Myers. The message to the group was to become involved in your Association.
The Grand Session had Tom Ferry as the keynote speaker. His message was positive and focused on personal development. The 2016 REALTOR of the Year was also recognized and Sara Riesen was our recipient.
In the afternoon I attended the AE luncheon and we had Ernie Bottoms bring the group up to date on AMP. RPR is working to develop tools for agents and brokers to use and he also offered to do on site training for local associations.
The Association contacted members who were attending the convention and invited them to attend a reception in the Marriot lobby area. This was a well-attended event, with great networking going on. The OAR leadership also attended along with Peg, and Lorie. I suggest the Board continue to hold this event and work to explore methods of funding this event.
I attended the President’s Sales Club dinner and our Association had 3 tables full of members.
On Wednesday the morning began with the MLS forum and the subject was website ADA compliance. NAR sent a speaker to address the issues that our members, brokers, and associations face with this issue. On a side note, we have already begun to work on this for our Association.
The Board of Directors meeting was held at 1 p.m. and the proposed $25 dues assessment was approved. Also the change to deduce the number of State meeting was passed effective for 2018.
On Friday the 23rd I attended a breakfast fund raising event for Senator Randy Gardner in Toledo. Also on the 23rd I attended the Lunch for LuLu in Fremont at Went Key Realty.
On the 28th the Community Service committee held a meeting and disused goals and ideas for the coming year’s events. It was decided to conduct a progressive raffle in 2017.
On October 5th we had a conference call with Rapattoni to discuss the design review that we are finishing for our MLS.
Our Annual awards banquet was held on October 11th and we had a large attendance.
October 17th I traveled to Columbus for OAR 2017 Leadership Meetings along with President Sara Riesen. I will be serving as MLS Forum Vice-Chair in 2017 and Sara will be on the Executive Committee and as Communication Committee Vice-Chairman for 2017.
Respectfully submitted,
David W. Freitag, RCE CEO
